I read "Becoming Bestemor" all the way home and AGAIN...a fantastic book...WOW you are such a talented & gifted author. I felt I was apart of the family I think I actually crawled right inside the book and did not reappear until I was done reading it. And how fitting to have read your book and when Jack & I arrived home our kids were so excited to see us they came in that night. They had the most wonderful news for us...we are going to be first time "GRANDPARENTS" ("Bestemor" & "Bestefar") what a terrific end to an awesome holiday. Life just can't get any better than that, can it?? So when is your third book coming out? Do let me know, I can't wait. Brenda Ball
It's finished for the first time--what a treasure you have given us all. Connie Lord
I just got a call from my cousin Greg, Jerold's son and he was telling me his dad was able to read that book with his magnifier reader--anyway, his dad was thrilled with the book. Greg said he cryed and cryed and remembered things he had forgotten. He is just so excited about the book. He's telling everyone who will listen. Greg called me to get information about it to put in his Dad's Christmas letter. His dad had loaned his copy to a lady friend to read.
To me the first part of the book got me the most. I think it was because it was knowing that it was about my family. I had heard a lot of the stories but to read them and to see how hard those children worked.
I have started reading your book and it is wonderful. I remember standing where the old house had been when we had the reunion, but that was the first time I had been there. It was magic. Did you know I managed to bring some mulberries home for my mom? She had talked so many times about them.
You were so fortunate to have known Bestemor.
And a few days later she added:
This morning I finished reading “Becoming Bestemor”. What a loving tribute to your Bestemor. At times I read it with tears streaming down my face. Lois Eagleton
